ATC5K Helmet Cam By Oregon Scientific Reviewed
Extreme sports fans loved the quality and versatility of Oregon Scientific’s ATC2K and ATC3K helmet cams- now, the same manufacturer brings us their new and improved model, the innovative and fun ATC 5000 Camera. This top of the range digital camera would make a great gift for fans of action sports, coming with software which allows footage to be recorded and then uploaded on to a computer for sharing, showing off or simply for posterity. Waterproof up to 3m and shock-resistant, the ATC 5K Action Cam is ideal for capturing a range of activities including mountain biking, diving, winter sports and sky diving.
It can also be attached to almost any item of equipment thanks to the various straps and mounts which are provided, so you can forget it’s there and just leave it to do its thing. This camera offers superb value for money, functioning as a webcam when not pressed into use as an Action Camera, and it also comes with suction pads and a silicon head strap for even more filming options. Capable of recording for in excess of two hours to a 4GB SD card, the ATC 5000 Action Camera offers ample recording time. This unit is deceptively small and neat, given its durability, at 11cm long and a paltry 260g in weight. Operating the ATC 5K Helmet Cam is child’s play, recording and downloading at the touch of a button. Unlike the earlier ATC2K and ATC3K models, the ATC5K Helmet Cam boasts a number of new options.
Whereas the earlier models came in a fairly nondescript black, this new version has had a makeover and is now resplendent in electric blue. The ATC5K now also doubles as a regular camera and, thanks to its new wide angle lens, you can now take high quality still photos in addition to the usual film option. Most impressive, though, are the introduction of an infrared Remote Control facility, offering a truly hands free experience; and the addition of a 1.5” LCD screen, offering instant preview and playback as well as effortless positioning of the camera for optimum filming. Powered by 2 AA lithium ion batteries, the ATC5K Action Cam is good for over 5 hours’ continuous use and can be operated in high-, medium- and low-resolution modes. All in all, this is a terrific product, offering great value for money and versatility. Included with the camera itself are a remote control unit, Li-Ion batteries and charger, manual, installation software and everything you need to attach the unit to your equipment of choice- all that’s left to do is kick back and enjoy this fantastic product.
