A Guide to the CCTV System
In an increasingly metropolitan world, it is becoming more and more necessary to install sophisticated security systems to avoid being the victim of crime. One of the security system options available is a CCTV system.
A CCTV system is basically a closed circuit television transmitting a signal that can be viewed. The system does not send a signal openly, but only to the specific monitors it is tuned to. This video feed can be viewed live or recorded or both, and it’s a very simply system to set up whether at home or office.
CCTV cameras also work great in malls, railway stations, airports, restaurants, or any other crowded place. They’re an excellent way to deter crime since they record criminals in that act, and with the use of a zoom you can often catch a face or license plate which is really hard evidence. Anytime a person sees a secuirty camera, that person understands that the odds of them getting caught if they were to commit a crime go way up, so cameras become a great way to inhibit people enough to not break the law, or at least to go further down the street to a business that doesn’t have one.
Another advantage of having a Cctv Camera up is that it can be used to keep an eye on employees. For instance, shop owners can put up a camera in their shop and monitor their staff from the backroom or office and not have to worry about their employees slacking off while at work.
There is no need to have someone sitting around the clock watching the monitors as the security feeds can be recorded and reviewed later if required. This reduces the need for security guards as a smaller number of guards can now manage a larger area since they have cameras that can provide footage of most of the property.
It’s also a great way to catch shoplifters by using hidden security cameras. Because these cameras can be placed anywhere around the store with constant monitoring, managers can pay much closer attention to suspicious characters without being intrusive themselves. It also becomes easier to prosecute shoplifters since there is video footage available showing them stealing from the store.
A CCTV camera can also be used around the house to keep an eye on the grounds and gate to ensure no one is entering your house without permission. Very often these cameras are placed at the gates of larger houses so that the owners can see who they are letting in before opening the gate. Therefore they also bring a lot increased Home Security.
Lots of people claim that this technology is too invasive and that the use of them should be reduced, and while this is a very legitimate point, instead of reducing their use we should simply use them smarter and in better places that maximize safety and minimize invasiveness. Many people have protested against the use of hidden cameras in neighborhoods and public areas however these cameras are extremely useful in catching vagrants who might deface public property through graffiti or public urination.
CCTV cameras provide a lot of advantages to various people, from citizens to homeowners. Many different departments of the government also use these to try and aid in catching criminals, providing information and keeping law and order in cities. They serve as the best way to increase security without costing a bunch.
